The last time I wrote a regular blog I was still at Warwick Uni. The mind boggles how far the online world has progressed since I was there. Facebook was a new, university-exclusive, mildly diverting, site, not the behemoth of social interaction it is today. The closest thing to Twitter was the group text function on advanced mobile phones... And Myspace was popular with the kidz (but not with me, I had 6 friends). Ah how times have changed,I often feel like the professor, aged and perplexed. Angry and impotent. So I've decided to take the bull by the horn and recommence my online ramblings. I'm going to do a quick precis of what has happened since those heady regular blogging days. If you're interested you can jump back to the point at which I was still a regular incumbant of the East Midlands before the University of Warwick decided that if I wanted to continue blogging with them, under the most ridiculous URL I would have to start paying alumni fees. Boo: Al's Warwick Blog
So basically, I intend to use this weebly website as a hub for all my online activities. Let's hope that the free service is sufficient and efficient. I recognise it's a bit of a gamble to go with a service that isn't blog builder, but let's give it a dry run anyway. What's to lose? The manifesto of this page is going to be a little different to the one I wrote as my Warwick Blog Manifesto in 2005, but not much.
general diary of what I've been up to... so I'll have some kind of starting point when I come around to writing my memoirs... In fact once this is written memoirs will be pretty redundant... In that case it's just to keep The Man, and My Mammy informed about my doings and whereabouts. More over it's to list the things that make me happy... you know nostalgia and all that. I will be including
To be a hub for all my other online activities and manage my online presence... which is and important thing these days so I'm told. So hopefully I'll be able to keep a tab on my Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Flickr etc on here.
This'll be a place to publish various writings, rants, poems, opinions, reviews / anything else I want off my chest.
To give the Gaia bus an online space, maybe connecting with other VW camper owners to offer/receive advice.
To keep tabs on The Professor, that cheeky old monkey.
To keep up with my Grandpa the most prolific blogger I know! Eric Avebury
To keep a track of my work and play, in case anyone sees it and wants to give me monies for doing it.
To give thanks to people who have helped me and for my general good fortune.
